Creating Better Mathematical Thinkers

With a name like Math Learning Center, you would think the main benefit they offer is higher math scores – and you would be half right. Arguably the biggest benefit of their curriculum is creating better mathematical thinkers, better scholars and better citizens.

The Challenge

Their challenge is getting the big picture across to Teachers, Administrators, Directors of Curriculum and parents who hadn’t yet experienced their curriculum. We believe you have to see it to believe it – so our solution was sharing the stories of teachers from across the country who were now creating a self-motivated classroom culture as a daily teaching method in their classrooms where kids now celebrate each other’s mathematical thinking and problem solving.

Entertaining

We developed and produced an array of short-form videos where we interviewed star educators teaching MLC curriculum. Diversity in the economics and geography of the districts mattered so our production team traveled to Texas, Illinois and Louisiana to capture their unique perspectives.

Personal Stories

We encouraged the teachers to share their own inspiring stories about their relationship with math, as well as the amazing changes they have seen in their students – not just as mathematicians, but as young citizens engaging respectfully in debates about how to approach math.

Knowing the target audience included three levels of educators as well as parents we chose a broadly inclusive point of view which both leveraged specific terms of art and a celebratory tone. This gave the videos an authentic feel and allowed the viewer to truly see the impact this curriculum has had in creating an engaged learning environment where math is fun!
